The Apache HTTP Server project Web site has dozens of mirrors all over the world; this site will become one of them shortly.
What this site provides that is somewhat rarer is a read-only copy of the master CVS repository (commonly called "anoncvs"). Maintaining an anoncvs mirror is a little bit involved, so the ones out there have a tendency to break occasionally.
To make it easier for everyone to access the latest and greatest version of the source, this site was set up. We maintain a read-only mirror copy of the master sources here, allowing interested people to keep in sync. The copy is updated every odd-numbered hour. The update may take a few minutes to complete, and during that time you won't be able to check anything out or update your working directory, so if you get a "cannot create lock file" message, try again in a few minutes.
